A rush of snowy memories
An account from Jules, age 7 and (future) Olympic gold medallist in Alpine skiing.
This is the first time that the whole family is going on a winter sports holiday. Jules’s parents chose the Vosges Mountains for its family-friendly resorts and the wide variety of activities on offer for children. Little by little, Jules discovers a paradise of white where he can unleash his (beginner’s) talents as a skier.

In both summer and winter, the 10 resorts of the Vosges bend over backwards to welcome families.
First snow
“Grandma, just like I promised, I’m writing you letters to tell you about our skiing holiday with Dad, Mom and Augustine. First, I wanted to talk to you about Fred, my favourite instructor at ski school. He’s teaching us how to ski on the bunny slopes for now, but I think one morning soon I’ll be able to ski with the big kids.”
The ESF Piou-Piou Clubs are play areas where little ones can learn skiing skills while getting accustomed to the slopes.

There are ESF ski schools in several of the resorts of the Vosges Mountains.

Snowball effect on my snowboard
"Tomorrow I start snowboarding! I’m a little worried that I’ll fall down in front of my friends, but Fred says that falling is how we learn. We’ll see. I also wanted to tell you that Augustine was so annoying today! Mom signed her up for the Piou-Piou Club for the morning and then she wouldn’t stop talking about "Blanchot" and "Titourson".

A word from Jules’s mother
"Mom, this mountain is so great! We get plenty of fresh air and the kids are having a ball. This afternoon, we’re going to the spa as a couple while Jules and Augustine are in ski school. I can’t wait to show you all our photos."

Snowflakes
“I got my first snowflake skiing medal, Grandma! Dad took some videos, so you can see me link the turns like a champion and skid just like on TV. As a reward, we’re all going to build an igloo and go yoonering this afternoon. It’s a sort of half-sled, half-ski that slides on the snow. I’m so happy here and I don’t want to go home.”

There are sporting events all winter long in the Vosges Mountains. Check out our calendar to stay up to date.
Today, it’s freestyle
“It’s our last day, and to finish this great week, Dad and I are going to an awesome competition: a freestyle contest. The snowboarders launch in the air and do incredible tricks. I’m so excited to go and I hope that one day it will be me up there.”
